日本には日本独自の行事や習わしが沢山あります。
日本で生まれ育っていない外国人にそのすべてを説明するのは難しいですが、ポイントを抑えれば外国人にもなんとなく理解してもらえると思います。
11月の日本独自の習慣といえば、七五三ですね。
今日は、七五三をなるべく簡単な英語表現で説明してみたいと思います。
1, Shichi-go-san is a Japanese event to celebrate the growth of children.
七五三は子供の成長を祝う日本の行事です。
2. It is held around November 15 every year.
七五三は、毎年11月15日前後に行われます。
3. The event is for boys aged three (3=san) and five (5=go), and girls aged
three and seven (7=shichi). That's why that is called "Shichi-go-san." (7-5-3)
男の子は３歳と５歳、女の子は３歳と７歳に祝います。
そのため、七五三と言われます。
4. Children dressed up in Kimono, dresses or suits.
Many families go to shrines and pray for the healthy growth of their children.
子供達は、着物やドレス、スーツで着飾って、家族で神社に行き子供の
健やかな成長を祈ります。
